5th Edition: On the Court, Off the Court, The Court Itself

On The Court

Most of the leaderboards display familiar names. James Harden currently averages the most points per game (31.7) as well as the most assists and the most three pointers made (90). Andre Drummond has the most rebounds (15.6). Paul George has the most steals, and Kristaps Porzingis has the most blocks by only a little bit (Kevin Durant is close behind).

While scrolling through the advanced stats, I noticed that Nemanja Bjelica of the Minnesota Timberwolves has the highest three point percentage at 51.2%. He comes from Fenerbahce Ulker in Serbia. He’s almost as old as my oldest brother which is pretty old (aka 29). He’s only ever played with Minnesota in the NBA, and I don’t think he’s on the “come-up” with his age, but it’s cool to see a fresh name on the splits.

Off The Court

The Memphis Grizzlies fired their coach David Fizdale. Assistant coach J. B. Bickerstaff has been named interim head coach. The team’s general manager announced the coaching staff transformation after deciding that a change in course was the only way to provide the organization its best chance at the remainder of the season.

The drastic moves took some of the NBA by surprise. Dwyane Wade, who played under Fizdale while he was the assistant coach of the Heat, tweeted that he wanted a more thorough explanation of what was going on. Nothing more has been released.

The Court Itself

While watching the Patriots game this past Sunday, my boyfriend shoved a picture on his phone in my face saying that I “NEED” to write about The Warrior’s court for my “The Court Itself” section of this article.

Although rumors flurried in the preseason, the Golden State Warriors finally brought the iconic Oakland oak tree symbol to their court and wore their alternate “The Town” jerseys Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. The beautiful center court design was definitely an eye-catcher and was admired by many. The Warriors won 110 to 95 on their stylish court.

The Warriors also tweeted a really cool video time-lapse of the old court being taken out and the new court being put in which can be found on their Twitter.
