Victor Oladipo’s Name

Kehinde Babatunde Victor Oladipo, better known as Victor Oladipo, is a 25-year-old point guard for the Pacers. Oladipo sits right outside the top 10 at #11 in most average points scored per game per player. He played his first three professional years in Orlando before heading off to OKC for a year. This year, he’s the biggest asset the Pacers have. He’s also a huge family guy and he loves to sing. Although his family gave him four names on his birth certificate, his mom adoringly calls him “Son” and his aunt calls him “Kenny”. Interestingly enough, “Kehinde” means “the second born of twins” in his Nigerian language. In his culture, although he was born second, he is seen as older because in the womb, he “told” his sister to leave first, making him the older twin with the authority to tell the younger one what to do.

#34 Retirement in TD Garden

Before roping his number up into the rafters of TD Garden last night, Paul Pierce said a few words. Some highlights included Pierce getting emotional while thanking his family and kids, an amazing tribute video from the Celtics, Doc Rivers applauding Pierce’s ability to be coached, and Kevin Garnett’s gravity-defying hoodie. Garnett and Pierce made a great duo in Boston, and KG recorded the ceremony in the corner on his phone like a proud dad.
