The End of a Season

Last night was tough. If you missed it because you live under a rock, the Cavs beat the Celtics and took the Eastern Conference Title and will be playing in the 2018 NBA Finals

As I sipped on my Shirley Temple and pouted over the Cavs’ growing lead in the 4th quarter in the last few minutes, other fans in the bar I was watching in were yelling, grunting, ordering shots, leaving, and quite frankly, I am surprised no one threw a table.

This is one of those times in sports where I get to use some of my elementary education sayings: you get what you get and you don’t get upset. I am hearing a lot of chatter about unfair foul calls and other advantages. Honestly, I just drown it out: I don’t want to hear it. I am extremely satisfied with the performance of this young team. Sure, some of the numbers really sucked last night on our half *cough cough, Terry*, but this young team made it further than honestly anyone thought they would. Next year, when we have Hayward and Irving in those positions actually making those shots these young guys couldn’t pull off, we’ll be unstoppable.

With all of this being said, thank you to everyone for their continual support reading my articles, especially my Celtics-oriented opinion pieces. I’m planning on evaluating the Cavs as Eastern Conference Champs in a long article some time before the finals, so please stay tuned to hear me talk about their chances in the finals.

I feel like this article didn’t have enough satire in it, so I need to add something witty here:

What’s the difference between the Boston Celtics and a dollar bill?

You can get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

What do you call 12 millionaires around a TV watching the 2018 NBA Finals?

The Boston Celtics.

  1. I know people are ticked, but this season was a huge success. The development was amazing, Brad continues to grow, and the young players got so many reps and now will slot into such nuanced roles at what they do best. It will be great to see Jaylen only shoot corner threes and focus on rim runs and run outs. Tatum is going to be so good it’ll blow everyone’s minds. I wonder if Gordon will become our Iguodala…the embarrassment of riches Swiss Army knife wing who can guard multiple wing spots and in three years can come off the bench to demolish other bench units.
