The Golden Knights defeated the Jets last night 4-2 to take a 2-1 series lead. The Knights actually should not have won, but thanks to their goaltender, they came out victorious. Marc-Andre Fleury is playing the best hockey of his life and he deserves a lot of credit.
Fleury has received plenty of criticism over the years but he’s putting the haters to sleep this season with the Golden Knights. He’s making saves that are completely un-human, and he’s doing in front of a team whose not as good as it’s opponent.
Fleury seems to have gotten a jolt of energize after being acquired by the Knights in the expansion draft. Becoming a backup to Matt Murray wasn’t exactly ideal for him in Pittsburgh and he’s showing the Penguins he’s still an elite goaltender.
Vegas has had a magical season, a historic season, an unheard of season by an expansion team. If they make the finals, or even if they don’t, Fleury can be given a lot of credit for how the season has gone.
Through this years playoffs, Fleury is 10-3 with a 1.70 GAA and .945 SV% with 4 shutouts. That’s unheard of these days in the NHL. These playoffs definitely belong to him, he’s been fantastic.
For starters, he made 2 brilliant saves last night on the Jets. 2 unhumanlike saves. Whatever Fleury is doing, he needs to keep it up because I think everyone would like to see Vegas move on to the finals and potentially win the Cup.
This man deserves all the credit in the world, because he’s the best remaining goalie in the playoffs and his stats prove it. He’s helping his team of “misfits” have the most historic season in NHL history.
