Raise your hand if you have a game day ritual or two that you believe helps your favorite team win.
I have to wear the same jersey every game for as long as my team is winning. So, if I wear my Brady jersey on week one of the NFL season and the Pats win, I wear the same jersey for week two. If the Pats fall in week two, then I wear a different jersey for week three and so on and so on.
If you think that is intense, well…it’s actually nothing compared to some others I’ve heard of. Let’s just say that I have a friend who decided to clean her bathroom during a Pats game when, at the end of the 3rd quarter, it looked fairly certain that they were headed for a loss. Shortly after she started cleaning though, the Pats turned things around. Her husband banished her to the bathroom during the 3rd quarter of every game after that for the rest of the season.
I kind of feel like the fact that my friend did clean the bathroom during the 3rd quarter of every game for the rest of that season should have qualified her for both wife and fan of the year. Don’t you? But then again, I’m sure there are some other, crazier things people have done to help their team win. And I’m sure some of you follow team specific rituals…like the Red Wings octopus tossing tradition. If you’re not familiar with that, go ahead and google it.
