2019 Draft Needs Tracker – Seattle Seahawks

With the draft looming a few short weeks away, teams are busy figuring out who can make their teams better. Here’s my take on what your team needs to do in the draft to take the next step.

NFC West – Seattle Seahawks

Picks
1st Round: 21
2nd Round: none
3rd Round: 85

After dismantling the Legion of Boom and shipping the pieces all across the league before last season, expectations in Seattle were measured. But Pete Carroll showed us why he’s an annual Coach of the Year candidate, and the Seahawks found themselves in the playoffs despite lacking talent in numerous places on offense. With Doug Baldwin struggling to recover and needing more surgeries before getting back, it’s easy to see Seattle trying to give Russell Wilson an elite wide receiver. Wilson is an elite passer, but he’s been scrambling too much the past few years as his receivers have struggled to separate. He’s a great rushing quarterback, but that’s not the game that the Seahawks want to be playing. It’s just too dangerous to have a player like Wilson tucking the ball and running because the pocket collapsed, or no one was open. The Seahawks are built on defense, though, so I could also see them bolstering the defensive line or looking to build depth in the secondary. Coach Carroll has played a very nuanced game making something out of nothing, but they’ll need more depth and talent to build on last season’s success.
