I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a fan of the MLB. Actually, I’m not a fan of baseball in general. Yes, I’m of the, “it’s too boring…games take forever” belief.
I’m not sorry.
Despite my disdain for baseball, I was intrigued when I asked Alexa for the news update the other day and the first story she read was that MLB ratings continue to fall this season. I feel like this has been a thing for a few years now. Right? Right! In fact, a 2018 Gallop poll found that the NBA was just about to surpass the MLB in popularity and also hinted that the MLS was not far behind it, threatening to push the MLB to America’s fourth favorite sport. Having grown up in Boston pre-Belichik/Brady when the Red Sox were everything to this city, the idea that many will find the NBA and MLS more exciting than the MLB is crazy.
So what is happening in the MLB that is driving so many fans away? We’ll tackle that question soon, but first, we want to hear from you. Are you loosing interest in the MLB?
